About us

The Ayodele Association is a non-profit organization founded in 2020 to continue the resistance and preservation of Afro-Brazilian ancestry, especially for the Black population and those who identify with this heritage. Its origins date back to Ilê Asé Ayodele, founded in 2011, where its matriarch, Paula Michelle de Oyá, along with her leadership team, have been promoting community strengthening through values and concrete actions. Our work seeks to recognize and value ancestry, operating primarily in Diadema, São Paulo, with initiatives ranging from historical recovery to promoting critical reflection on ethnic issues, aiming for social transformation. We believe that access to culture and information is fundamental to the education and development of children and young people from the outskirts of São Paulo, who represent the future of our society and will be responsible for continuing this legacy. Constantly expanding, the Ayodele Association offers a diverse range of cultural, sports, artistic, and educational activities. Our projects and workshops are inclusive, with spaces for both Afro-descendants and non-Afro-descendants, and feature instructors, volunteers, and experts who enrich each experience. Our mission is to promote the integration and development of a more just, conscious, and supportive community by strengthening Afro-Brazilian identity and culture.
